Ford was sworn in as Nevada’s 34th attorney general in 2019 and is the first African American to take statewide constitutional office. Before his election, AG Ford served as the Majority Leader of the Nevada State Senate. He previously served as the Minority Leader, Assistant Majority Whip, chair of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, vice chair of the Senate Committee on Education, and member of the Judiciary Committee. Before beginning his legal career, AG Ford served as a public school math teacher. He later attended law school and went on to clerk for the Honorable Denise Page Hood of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, as well as the Honorable Johnnie B. His assignments have been in California, New Jersey, Virginia, Michigan, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Illinois, New York, Texas and Asia Pacific (Singapore, Japan). During his tenure with Mobil and ExxonMobil, Jeff has been in numerous leadership positions including Supply Manager, Fuels Marketing Development Manager, New York District Sales Manager, US Industrial Lubricants Sales Manager, Asia Pacific Sales Manager, Global Industrial Marketing Manager, Americas Distributor Business Manager and was appointed to lead the Global Learning and Professional Development function for the Fuels and Lubricants Marketing Company. During his last assignment, Jeff was responsible for developing leadership & professional development strategies for recruiting, learning, training and Inclusion and Diversity for the Fuels and Lubricants Marketing Company.
